In the year 2009, by a miracle of God, I was connected to three Brazilians who were led to begin a mission in Haiti. They were an Apostle, a Pastor, and a “Pirate.” You can read that story, and the two following trips that were born from it in the blogs on our website entitled, “Brazilian Apostle, Pastor, and Pirate,” “Last Minute Action,” and “Two Thousand for Seven Hours.”
Pastor Ivens Seisdedos later came to visit us in our home. Another pastor, whose name is Gilberto (Giba) Custodio, said he felt his heart attach to mine the moment we met…and I felt the same. But because of the language barrier and time pressures, we were not able to speak much to one another.
These Brazilians from Bola de Neve were then led by God to attach themselves to the ministry of a Haitian pastor named Venel Lundy. They took teams over the next couple of years to work with Pastor Venel, even bringing him and his wife to Brazil in order to draw them deeply into renewal and revival by the power of their love and spirit. Meanwhile I continued doing the ministries God was calling me to do, yet always wondering why I had connected so closely to Pastor Giba and Ivens only to go our separate ways.
After two years had passed, the Lord spoke to Pastor Giba, telling him to invite me to Brazil so that we could begin working together for revival in Haiti. They paid all my expenses for this trip. I sat with Giba and Ivens to share dreams and visions about Haiti, and how we could see the Lord calling us together to achieve them. They poured love and spiritual energy into me, and made something like a covenant to stand as one for this work. During the days of the conference, I also met many young people who are ready to go to Haiti, and some who are even ready to come to our city and begin a work of transformation to the “crazy ones” of Freeport!
At Pastor Giba’s church there is a Haitian flag permanently sewn to a Brazilian flag, hanging from the communion table, which, as in every Bola church, is an upside-=down surfboard! I was invited to speak and sing a worship song in Creole there, and then again to the main church in São Paulo during the Prophetic Conference. We will see in the months to come how the Lord will bring this ministry together with us to achieve His holy purpose in Haiti.
I still say, “There must be more.” I’m not looking for a new revelation or new wisdom. I’m not looking for something never before known or experienced. What I see, and what has touched my life so deeply from this very8 unusual church in Brazil, is something more like the Bible, more like Moses, David, Elijah, and Paul, more like Acts, Romans, the Epistles, and Revelation, more like Jesus. It’s that kind of more I’m always seeking. Not more than or higher than what the Bible has always said it should be, but exactly what we mean when we pray, “Let your kingdom come; let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
I believe that before I die I’m going to see, and live, more in heaven than I ever dreamed could be possible on earth. I encourage you, too, to seek and find more. How content, how secure, how joyful you will be to leave the Kingdom of this world and permanently plant your heart, your mind, and your spirit in the Kingdom of God.
